Enterprise Rent-A-Car Doubles Number of Hybrids in Fleet

Enterprise Rent-A-Car has designated its rental location in Stamford, Conn. as a hybrid branch. Additionally, the company will add as many as 5,000 gas/electric hybrids to its fleet.

The addition of hybrid vehicles more than doubles the amount of hybrids the company owns. Hybrids can achieve greater fuel economy, use less gasoline and have fewer emissions than traditional vehicles.

In addition to those in Stamford, the new hybrids will be available in nearly 80 neighborhood and airport hybrid branch locations across the United States.

Furthermore, the Denver International Airport branch will be the companys second hybrid branch, with as many as 100 hybrid vehicles.

Customers will be able to choose from hybrid vehicles such as the Toyota Prius, Nissan Altima and Ford Escape. Local rental rates start at $49.99 per day but will vary according to market conditions; rates also will vary at locations throughout the country. Additional hybrid branch locations across the country will be announced in the coming weeks.

In addition to the focus on hybrids, Enterprise has designated eight E85/FlexFuel branches where as much as 30 percent of the local fleets are FlexFuel vehicles capable of using E85 (a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline). In addition, Enterprise fuels those vehicles from a nearby E85 fueling station.

Enterprise and sister companies National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car allow customers the chance to pay $1.25 per rental to offset the carbon dioxide greenhouse gas emissions from their rented vehicles.
